Flight Operations Management

In PDC FlightOps, we design the overall functionality of Flight Operations Management with a strong focus on efficiency, operational control, and rapid decision-making. As a result, airlines can respond more effectively to operational challenges while maintaining schedule reliability.

Key capabilities include:

Disruption Handling – When operational irregularities occur, a comprehensive Decision Support Module (add on) analyses all potential repercussions across the network. Based on this analysis, it provides the Operations Controller with a list of possible solutions to minimise disruption. Since disruptions can account for up to 8% of annual airline revenue, proactive and informed decision-making is critical to maintaining operational performance and profitability.

Flight Traffic Monitoring – This functionality continuously tracks and manages operational priorities in real time. Consequently, dispatchers can focus their attention where it is most needed. If no flights appear on the monitor, there are no delays, weather-related issues, (weather alert/monitoring system is an add on) or other operational events requiring immediate action in the flight operations management.

Flight Message Distribution – The system automatically distributes ad hoc operational changes to all relevant internal departments once configured. As a result, stakeholders are informed of changes as they occur. Furthermore, this eliminates unnecessary paperwork, improves communication across teams, and ensures that everyone is working with the latest operational information.

Why Select
PDC’s
Flight Operations Management?

Currently, 47 international airlines use PDC FlightOps. The product focuses on efficient traffic monitoring and disruption handling in flight operations management. A wide range of flight statistics reports provide valuable operational insights.

“One of the most evident benefits Bulgaria Air has experienced switching to the PDC AirlineSuite, is the increased compliance and efficiency in their slot management process. Bulgaria Air has cut this process from taking two weeks to a staggering 30 minutes.”

According to Amadeus, flight disruptions can account for as much as 8% of an airline’s annual revenue. Moreover, beyond their immediate local impact, irregular operational events can trigger a chain reaction that disrupts airline operations across multiple airports and network locations. Consequently, airlines may require several days to fully restore normal operations and recover schedule stability.

Therefore, having reliable software that enables rapid and informed decision-making within minutes or hours is not merely advantageous—it is essential. This is where PDC FlightOps comes in. Designed by industry experts, PDC FlightOps supports operational teams with advanced tools that streamline and strengthen the decision-making process during both routine operations and disruptive events.

Key benefits include:

  • Instant Operational Visibility – Attain a comprehensive, real-time overview of your operating schedule. In addition, the system immediately triggers alerts when disruptions occur, enabling faster response times and improved operational awareness.
  • Dedicated Priority Monitoring – Access a dedicated secondary screen designed for efficient monitoring and management of operational priorities. As a result, controllers can quickly identify and address issues that require immediate attention.
  • Advanced Decision Support – Leverage our powerful Decision Support Module, which meticulously analyses the potential consequences of operational irregularities. Based on this analysis, the system presents the Operations Controller with a tailored list of viable solutions. Furthermore, recommendations can be fine-tuned to align with your company’s specific operational goals and policies. Consequently, airlines can make agile, informed decisions that minimise passenger inconvenience, reduce disruption costs, and improve OTP (On-Time Performance).
  • Automated Real-Time Communication – Changes are automatically distributed in real time using IATA-standard industry message formats to all relevant internal departments. As a result, paperwork is eliminated, communication gaps are reduced, and all stakeholders remain aligned with the latest operational information.

PDC FlightOps provides immediate insights by utilising distinct colours to signify flight status, granting Ops Controllers a quick overview of the operating schedule. Real time alerts promptly highlight disruptions stemming from flight delays, departures, arrivals, or diversions. A dedicated “Flight Traffic Monitor” offers a secondary screen to monitor and address top priorities.

Integrated with NOAA weather data, the Weather module equips Ops Controllers with METAR and TAF data, enabling proactive day of operations management.

PDC FlightOps can store cost information for calculation of flight sectors and ad hoc changes. You can store these cost factors against both fixed and variable items, and assign them to aircraft types, airports, and passenger numbers.

Accurate reporting is a key element for any airline management. PDC FlightOps includes a report generator for generating statistics and punctuality reports (flight statistics, delay statistics, load statistics and productivity statistics). It is possible to create customised reports/layout with data from the shared database using the Custom Report module which is add on.

In the event of delays or operational disruptions, airlines can quickly regain control by using PDC’s Problem Solver module. With this capability, planners can resolve issues within an individual aircraft, a specific aircraft type or sub-type, or even across the entire fleet. Furthermore, the module can be parameterised to account for existing maintenance requirements, scheduled sectors, and operational connections, ensuring that proposed solutions remain practical and operationally feasible.

In addition, users can adjust the default turnaround time by a specified number of minutes where operational conditions allow. As a result, the system gains greater flexibility when evaluating recovery options and identifying the most effective course of action.

Once configured, the Problem Solver automatically generates potential solutions to the disruption. Moreover, it presents multiple recovery scenarios along with an economic overview of each option. Consequently, decision-makers can quickly compare alternatives, assess operational and financial impacts, and select the solution that best supports their business objectives while minimising disruption to passengers and operations.
